Nearly 50 local restaurants to participate in 'Taste of Downtown'

It's a chance to dine downtown at a discount! Nearly 50 local restaurants are offering $12 preset meals for Taste of Downtown Boise.

Blair Wilson, Communications Manager for the Downtown Boise Association, says it's an opportunity for people to eat at restaurants they may not otherwise be able to. He says high-end steakhouses like Chandlers, Ruth's Chris and The Brickyard will be participating in the ten day event.

"It really brings the community together to taste different items from somewhere that they might not normally go, gets them inside the doors to experience something new and different at a reasonable price," said Wilson.

'Taste of Downtown' offers are valid from October 27 through November 5.

Food is not all that's on the menu at 'Taste of Downtown.' This year, the event will also include discounts at local bars.

This is the thirteenth year 'Taste of Downtown' will take place locally. Wilson says the goal is to encompass all of downtown Boise's food and beverage industry.

Wilson says the timing of 'Taste of Downtown' is intentional.

"This does a really good thing for the restaurants because typically this time of year is slower for businesses, between the summer and the holidays," said Wilson. "So that's why we've kind of offered it over this period of time, to really boost the economy."

Wilson hopes you'll experience a local business you've never visited.

"Get out there, try something new. Go grab a couple drinks for 12 bucks. Go get some ice cream for 12 bucks, an appetizer, basically, anything," said Wilson. "There's so much variety."
